On Wednesday, July 12, the House Appropriations Committee approved $271.703 million for State Department humanitarian demining programs in the FY24 budget. This is an over $7 million increase from last year and an amazing display of support from the House.
The committee also recommended an $80 million allocation for demining in Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia, as well as $2 million for demining in Nagorno Karabakh, continued funding for Afghanistan, Colombia, Syria, Ukraine, and the West Bank, and increased funding for Angola, Sri Lanka, and Zimbabwe.
