On Thursday, the House Appropriations Committee agreed on $25 million for the Army’s Humanitarian Demining Research and Development program, a $2 million increase from last year’s funding. This program works with humanitarian demining partners and the U.S. military to develop new demining equipment and adapt cutting-edge technology for demining use.
This funding increase would allow the program to create and test even more specialized technology, ultimately allowing HALO and other demining organizations access to the best and most efficient technology for clearing landmines and other explosives, and we welcome the increase. The bill will now advance to the entire House of Representatives for a vote.
