On Tuesday, May 28th, Representative Ami Bera (D-CA-6) visited HALO’s program in the Solomon Islands while on a Congressional trip. There, he spoke to the HALO team and learned about our critical work identifying and helping to remove WWII-era UXO, much of it American in origin. With funding from the United States Government, HALO's demining efforts in the Solomon Islands are essential to keeping communities safe and supporting positive US diplomatic relations.
Representative Bera serves as Ranking Member of the Indo-Pacific Subcommittee on the House Foreign Affairs Committee and is a member of the UXO/Demining Caucus. We at HALO are extremely grateful for the Congressman's support for life-saving humanitarian demining programs in Asia and worldwide.
