On 23 May, Representatives Rick Crawford (R-AR-1) and Jimmy Panetta (D-CA-19), along with 89 of their colleagues, signed and sent a bipartisan letter to the House Defense Appropriations Subcommittee encouraging support for humanitarian demining research and development.
The letter requests $27 million for the Army’s Humanitarian Demining Research and Development (HD R&D) program, which advances landmine clearance technology to improve safety and efficiency for both U.S. forces and humanitarian demining partners. The HD R&D program strengthens U.S. military capabilities by advancing demining technology and enabling forces to respond to evolving threats. It saves lives—both civilian and military—around the world, reduces costs for the State Department by improving the efficiency of clearance operations, and equips humanitarian demining organizations to operate effectively in high-risk environments like Ukraine.
The Representatives who signed the letter include: Reps.
