The HALO Trust's global headquarters are in the UK. HALO USA and HALO Europe are separate entities with their own boards of trustees. We all work together to protect lives and help families affected by conflict to get back on their feet.
How your money is spent
HALO takes pride in delivering the best value from the money you donate. We know you share our commitment to protecting lives and restoring livelihoods. We're enormously grateful to everyone who supports our work with donations and fundraising activities.
At least 90 cents of every $1 you donate goes directly to supporting families affected by conflict around the world.
Our income for the year up to 31 March 2024 was £147.5m ($196.1m USD).

Medical governance
HALO's medical governance is guided by a group of highly-experienced NHS professionals. They volunteer their time to support our work in the field.
Our work with explosives is dangerous, but minefield accidents are thankfully rare. We train local staff as paramedics and they play an important role in every HALO team. Their work is governed by standards and policies, which are set by HALO's medical board.
The volunteer board includes surgeons, doctors, trauma specialists, and paramedic instructors. They set the standards across all our programmes and develop paramedic training courses. This ensures the health and wellbeing of our staff in the field. We're enormously grateful to them all for their dedication to HALO.
Our paramedics are trained to deliver emergency care for victims of explosives. They learn to handle every step, from stabilising the casualty, to safely delivering them to hospital. Our paramedics are also responsible for the wellbeing of our programme staff, who are often based in remote locations.
Our trustees
Our trustees are an incredible group. They provide their invaluable insight and expertise to keep us progressing towards a world free of landmines.

"I commit my time and resources to HALO because it's an organization like no other. They transform dangerous landmine-ridden landscapes into thriving communities. This creates livelihoods for people who deserve to live without fear of violence or loss of life."
Safeguarding
Effective safeguarding is fundamental to HALO’s work. As an ethical charity, we make sure not to harm anyone who comes into contact with HALO. We actively protect our staff's wellbeing and promote ethical behaviour.
Our values and standards are at the heart of everything we do. We expect all our staff to act with:
- Moral courage
- Discipline
- Integrity
- Respect for others
- Loyalty
- Selfless commitment
We work hard to make sure everything they do is lawful, appropriate and professional.

"HALO's work in war-torn countries and territories sees us working at risk with some of the poorest and most vulnerable people in the world. Safeguarding of our employees and the people we serve is critical."
